It's like dialing 4-1-1, but specific to the needs of San Mateo County residents. Do you know who to call with questions about Medicare, MediCal or Medicaid? Rent Assistance? Home-delivered meals or if a loved one, friend or neighbor needs help? As of right now, just dial 2-1-1 from any phone - including cell phones - and a live person will help you with information and referrals to local community services, such as food, shelter, counseling, employment assistance, quality child care, volunteer opportunities and more. The service, provided through a partnership between San Mateo County and United Way of the Bay Area, is free, confidential and available 24 hours a day in 150 languages. There is a also a website specific to San Mateo County - all 9 Bay Area counties now have access to 2-1-1. Nationally, 2-1-1 is available to more than 245 million people in 47 states, plus Washington D.C and Puerto Rico.
It's going to be wet, wet, wet for the next few days. Sand bags have been made available for Brisbane residents. You can pick them up outside the City of Brisbane Public Works Corp. Yard, located at the intersection of Tunnel & Lagoon. They will be outside the gate on palettes, covered by a black tarp to keep them dry (as shown below). If you know your property is prone to flooding during heavy rains, come on down and pick up some sand bags- they're free!

Then applying for the San Mateo County Transportation Authority's Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC) may be just up your alley. The 15-member, volunteer CAC acts as a liaison between the public and the board of directors, providing valuable input to the board on the projects and programs in the Transportation Expenditure Plan.
