Art Shows at City Hall

Thanks to the efforts of Clara Johnson, former Brisbane Mayor, and Carole Nelson, former Community Development Director, the Large Conference Room at City Hall now serves not only as the main meeting location for city business, but also as an art gallery.  There have been many art shows over the years, which are generally accompanied with a Wednesday evening Artist Reception from 6:00pm - 8:00pm.

The Parks and Recreation Department is always looking for artists interested in displaying their work in City Hall's art gallery.  If you or someone you know is interested, please click here for more information.

Current Showcase - Rosanna Lyons

Rosanna Lyons was born in the small village of Johnswell in Co.Kilkenny, Ireland.  She studied art at Limerick college of Art and Design, and went on to work as an effects animator for animation studios such as Disney in France, Dreamworks in Los Angeles, Amblimation in London, and Sullivan Bluth in Dublin, Ireland.  She also worked on The Simpson’s Movie and TV Show.  Throughout this time, Rosanna never stopped studying her greatest love, fine art painting.

Rosanna’s latest series is called “Nebula”;
“I have my models wrap themselves in fabric I have carefully chosen, and take photographs which I then use almost as sketches for my colorful acrylic paintings.  My models are like ethereal, magical beings, floating in the heavens.  I like to elevate my subjects like neoclassical style gods and goddesses and connect them with nature. In this case, the connection is with space, hence the “Nebula” theme”.

Rosanna shows her work locally and is also represented by Hilliard Gallery in Kansas City, MO
