Brisbane has an extensive system of parks, trails and recreational facilities.  They range from well-manicured parks with play structures, to quiet trails.  The Parks and Recreation Department manages these facilities, and with help from the Public Works Department to keep the parks nicely mowed and free of debris, are able to offer the Brisbane community a wide selection of programs for all ages.  Citizens can offer input regarding Parks and Recreation to the City through the Parks and Recreation Commission and the Youth Advisory Committee.

The Parks and Recreation Department is is located on the 2nd floor of City Hall:

Activity Guide

Did you know that a single sheet of paper requires 160 cups of water to produce? We find that to be pretty outrageous…don’t you?  The Parks & Recreation department has decided to pilot a revised approach to marketing and promoting our wonderful classes, programs, and events.  For the first time, a 16-page Fall Activity Guide is NOT being included as a special insert in the August STAR newsletter. The decision to test this method stems from a desire to reduce the City’s paper waste and decrease our environmental footprint.  Specific program flyers for childcare, seniors, aquatics, and special events are available online and will still be obtainable for residents to pick up from recreational facilities and City Hall if desired.  However, the goal of this pilot is to encourage residents to take advantage of the many electronic platforms the City uses to inform residents about what is happening in Brisbane.  These include the City website, weekly blast, and social media outlets.  (Click the link above to follow us on Facebook!)  Friendly Parks & Recreation department staff are happy to assist residents with identifying where they can locate all the necessary information to serve their recreational needs and we thank you for your support of this environmentally-sustainable decision.
