Firefighters Return to Station 81

On Monday night, the Brisbane Firefighters moved back home to Station 81!  It's been just over three years that the firefighters have been in an interim mobile trailer facility located outside of Station 81.  On September 14, 2010, the City received a report that Brisbane Fire Station 81 had a severe case of mold within the facility - specifically the apparatus bay and living quarters.  Because Brisbane is a part of the North County Fire Authority, our firefighters were able to be immediately relocated to Station 93 in Daly City for evenings, though still spending the daytime hours in Brisbane responding to calls, conducting fire inspections, and all other required and necessary workload and assignments.  To meet the community's desire for the firefighters to be in town 24/7, three mobile trailers were brought in as a temporary solution.  We are happy to report that those trailers are no longer needed, and will be removed once the firefighters are able to get fully moved back in to the station.

A grand "re-opening" celebration will be planned in the near future so that the community is able to formally welcome the firefighters back home, as well as to see and hear about all the renovations that took place at the facility, including a roof repair and inspection and new carpet and paint in the living quarters.  The re-opening event will also be discussed by the City Council at their meeting next Monday, January 13th at 7:30pm.  Tune in on Ch. 27 or watch via live streaming on your computer or mobile device.
