As part of National Preparedness Month, FEMA’s Ready Campaign and the Ad Council promote being “Prepared, Not Scared” in new PSAs and online videos that promote the importance of preparing children and teenagers for possible emergencies and disasters. Involving young people in preparedness efforts can help youth, families, and communities be prepared and able to respond when faced with disasters.
Production partner Newfangled Studios created pro bono TV, digital and out-of-home ads. FEMA is also teaming up with Sony’s “Zombieland 2: Double Tap” to promote the crucial message of emergency preparedness.
This preparedness effort by the Ready Campaign follows 16 years of educating the American public about disaster and emergency preparedness. In that time, $1.6 billion in donated media enabled the campaign to reach millions of Americans and encouraged more than 100 million visits to the campaign’s website, Ready.gov.

The landowner of the Brisbane Baylands, Universal Paragon Corporation, held their second of three community workshops that followed the City's work with Home for All earlier this year on August 29th at Mission Blue Center. For those that missed it, here is the link to their video recording.
Following the presentation portion of the workshop, attendees participated in an interactive exercise, placing dots on images that depicted what they envisioned for the site when it came to open space, including: Roundhouse Park, Lagoon Park, Community Space, and Ice House Hill. UPC developed this survey following the workshop to capture the ideas and suggestions of those that could not attend. Please take 10 minutes to complete it and make sure to do so by Friday, September 13th, when the survey closes. And lastly, be sure to save October 17th, 6:30pm-9pm for UPC's final workshop, which will take place again at Mission Blue Center, dinner and childcare included.

The City of Brisbane completed Phase 1 of the Fire Main Replacement Project that affected portions of Sierra Point Rd., Humboldt, Annis, and all of Thomas earlier this year.
Construction on Phase 2 of the Fire Main Replacement Project is planned to start in the Fall of 2019.
This project will provide much-needed improvements to our City’s aging drinking water infrastructure and will include the replacement of approximately 5,120 linear feet of 6-inch water main with 8- and 10- inch pipe along portions of Annis Road, Harold Road, Kings Road, Margaret Road, and Paul Avenue.
We will be installing new main line valves, fire hydrants, and water services (above photo taken during Phase 1). The work is critically important to upgrade our water distribution system infrastructure to meet current state codes and replace aging pipes. This multi-phase project is expected to be completed in 2021.
During construction, there will be full-width road closures to facilitate this work. We understand that this will be an inconvenience to the residents in the neighborhood, and to limit this impact we will ensure that normal traffic will be resumed at the end of the each work day. The project will also require temporary water service disruptions. All impacted residents will be provided advanced notice of these closures and disruptions.
