Fri. Afternoon Grass Fire

Just after 3pm on Friday, June 22, crews responded to a second alarm grass fire east of Bayshore Blvd. near Tunnel Rd.  Due to quick action taken by the fire companies, the fire was contained to 5 acres, with no damage to private or public property, nor injuries to firefighters or the public.  A Cal Fire copter remained on scene for any flare-ups while crews did extensive mop ups and constructed containment lines around the fire.  The fire is currently under investigation by the North County Fire Authority Fire Prevention Services Bureau.  Click here to read their press release.  We will post an update when a determination has been made as to the cause of the fire.
