The City of Brisbane's website was recently upgraded for security purposes, and will undergo its final security update this weekend with the implementation of SSL (Secure Sockets Layer). This work will require the website to be offline between 8am – 12 noon on Sunday, September 30, 2018. Thank you for your patience as our site is made more secure for our users and visitors to the site.
Weekend SF Caltrain Closures

Construction is advancing along the Caltrain corridor for Caltrain Electrification. To accommodate the brand new electric trains, construction crews will begin work in the four San Francisco tunnels starting in October.
In order to facilitate work in the tunnels, trains will not serve the San Francisco or 22nd Street stations on weekends from October 6, 2018 to late spring 2019. Caltrain service will stop at Bayshore Station and free bus service will transport passengers to the 22nd and San Francisco stations. Caltrain encourages customers to consider alternative transit options on weekends, including BART via Millbrae Station. Weekday Caltrain service will not be impacted. Crews will create additional clearance in the tunnel sides to accommodate the new trains and will install anchor bolts in the tunnel ceilings to facilitate the installation of the overhead contact system that will power the new electric trains. City's Stance on SB 828 and AB 2923
Printer-friendly versionAt the Council Meeting on September 6, 2018, City Manager Clay Holstine briefed the Council on two pieces of legislation that the State Legislature passed and which are now on the Governor's desk for his consideration. The Governor has until September 30th to sign, veto, or allow the legislation to go into effect without his signature. City Manager Holstine offered, "Up until now, there has been a tacit understanding between local government and the State that cities are responsible for planning and zoning activities and the private sector is responsible for the actual production of housing. SB 828 starts to move that dial in an effort to create some accountability for cities to be responsible for the actual production of housing...this is just one more example of the State coming into what historically has been local government affairs and putting more pressure on cities to do what the State wants." The next bill, AB 2923, popularly referred to as "the BART bill", does not currently impact the City of Brisbane at this period in time, but is "an overt, blatant usurpation of local land-use control by the State to a regional agency that has no previous experience, background, or history performing land-use planning...this gives you a taste of where the State's mentality is and where they're headed with legislation."
It is anticipated that our Sacramento lobbyist will provide a report concerning State legislation at an upcoming Council meeting.
