Lift a Hand for Lipman!

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

It's often said that the tattered sweatshirt you keep in the back of your closet is "well-loved" and that there's no way you could part from it.  Well, the same can be said for Lipman Field.  It is well-loved in the sense that it is used for youth baseball practices and games, AYSO, CYSA, and CYO have their soccer games and tournaments there, adults can be seen playing pick-up games during some lunch hours, and in the evenings and on the weekends, dogs love it for getting a good run-around.

But all that activity has taken a toll on Lipman Field and it is now in need of some major restorative work.  Therefore, if you have the time, energy, and desire to see Lipman Field restored to what it should be - free of weeds and excess grasses (that above photo should be displaying an all-dirt infield!), then please come out on Saturday morning, March 26th at 9am to help renovate the field and baseball diamondThere will be light refreshments served in the morning.

If you have any questions, please contact Recreation Supervisor Steve Beaty at (415) 508-2144 or e-mail him at sbeaty@ci.brisbane.ca.us.  Thank you in advance for your willingness to help!

When the plea for help went out, it certainly did not return back void.  Thank you to everyone who came out to help Eagle Scout Jonathan Williamson clean up the steps at Firth Park as well as pull invasives and re-plant native plant species.  There was a lot accomplished last weekend, and you should be very proud of your efforts.

Firth Park got a mini makeover last weekend, and will be restored even more come April 30th when residents gather for Habitat Restoration Day, sponsored each year by the City.  Watch the signboard and blog for more details...
