Increase in Parking Enforcement

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

We have received a few questions from citizens regarding the increase in parking enforcement around the city.  Generally speaking, most of our parking enforcement efforts are complaint driven.  Some areas that we have been concentrating on are white line violations, vehicles that block the sidewalk, and vehicles making U-turns at Visitacion and Mariposa.  Also, we have received complaints about vehicles parked for extended periods in the 24 minute zones at the top of Visitacion.  In the case of vehicles parked on the sidewalks, we have done a number of outreach efforts in order to educate the public and attempt to gain compliance before resorting to enforcement.  It is our preference to educate first, but unfortunately that may not always be the case.  Our mission is to keep the roadways and sidewalks safe for those who travel them.  Most of the citations that we issue are for behavior that people know is illegal.  We ask that everyone be courteous to those around you when it comes to your parking and driving habits.  If we all take the time to do the right thing, our town will be safer and it will be less likely that anyone will receive a citation.  As always, please reach out to us directly with your questions or concerns at (415) 467-1212.  We are here to help!
